Key West

The Hubs and I are going to Key West soon. It's our first vacation alone since our honeymoon. I've never been to Key West Before. To say I'm excited is a ginormous understatement. I definitely want to go to the Hemingway house and hit up a Cheeseburger in Paradise. Any suggestions on what else we have to see and do???

Hub's Law School Count Down

T minus 20 days until orientation...

Our boy, Bleu

We adopted our handsome black lab/huskie mix dog at the age of three from a coworker that got transferred across the country. He was named Bleu, spelled French but spoken like the color. Go figure. He has one beautiful blue eye. Please feel free to make any Bleu/Blue related jokes such as "You're my boy, Bleu!," "Cordon Bleu" (spoken in a french accent of course), "Bleu Man Group," "Bleu Man Chu," etc. We do it all the time and it always makes us laugh. Happy 6th Birthday Bleu! Our life is so much richer with you in it. We love you.

Wicked Fun!

Tonight the Hubby and I are going to see Wicked at the Kennedy Center. I have been looking forward to this since March! Big shout out to my awesome Hubby for this surprise birthday gift! I've never seen Wicked before but I have the soundtrack and love all the songs. We are going to Founding Farmers for dinner before the show which offers "farm-inspired American true food and drink in a modern, casual and eco-friendly setting." I think I'm going to wear this Lilly dress for the occasion. Gotta love dressing up for date night. Happy Sunday!

Fill in the Blank

A thank you to Lovely Little Things for showing me Lauren's blog. I'm a little late in the game on getting this out but join us anyway and Fill in the Blank with the little things we do!

1. The phrase or punctuation I overuse the most is... Seriously!?
2. Today I am thankful for...my husband and friendships.
3. My best friend is...the hubby and the wonderful women that made up our bridal party.
4. A quirky thing about me is...I won't eat cucumbers or any bell peppers. I'll actually tell a restaurant I'm allergic to them to ensure I won't get them hidden in my meal.
5. This weekend I...am going to see Wicked! Among other fun adventures. :-)
6. Something that worries me is...that I won't get enough fun quality time with the Hubby while he is in law school.
7. On my night stand you will find...a stack of magazines/books, my iPhone charging, chapstick, and a glass of water on a coaster.

NYC Weekend

I was in New York this past weekend visiting one of my best friends from college. We had a great time walking the city and catching up. Have you been to or heard about the High Line yet? It's an industrial rail road coverted into a board walk/city park. The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. Section 1 opened in June 2009 and Section 2 opened in June 2011. When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. The Summer hours are 7am to 11pm and the views are spectacular. We walked Section 2 and I enjoyed every minute of it. You could see the Hudson River on one side and the streets of New York on the other.

The High Line ends on 30th street and underneath it is a nouveau beer garden with food trucks and a bar called, "The Lot" with rows and rows of picnic tables on the pavement. "The Lot" may only be open for the 2011 Summer season so make sure you check it out if you are in the area. Unfortunately, the line was too long to get in when we were there but I definitely want to go back if I can. I love this idea and I'm wondering if we could do something similar in Baltimore. The city of Paris successfully converted a similar rail viaduct into an elevated park called the Promenade Plantée, which was the inspiration for this park. Projects similar to the High Line are in early stages in St. Louis, Philadelphia, Jersey City, Chicago, and Rotterdam. Do we have any unused railroads in or near Baltimore city? I'm all about more green and public parks.

Thanks for the great visit A! Can't wait to do it again soon!

*I'll add some of my personal pictures once I get a chance to upload them.

LC is Back!

And dare I say better than ever. I'm slightly obsessed with Lauren Conrad's new website, http://www.laurenconrad.com/. I have enjoyed every single one of her blog posts, especially the "Primp" section. You should check it out.

Simple Salads

Did you see the article in the New York Times, originally published in July 2009, for 101 Simple Salads? I recognize this is a little late in the game to be blogging about it but the Hubby and I have been eating more and more salads for lunch. There were more options than I thought considering I'm anti-cucumber and bell pepper. Yeah, I said it. I want to try #2, #7, #32, #49 and #68.  What salad number(s) do you want to try?

Check out the blog here. Our next assignment is "My Favorite Place."

The Gathering

The Hubby and I are heading to The Gathering tomorrow night with some friends. All of the food trucks in Baltimore are coming together in support of the There Goes My Hero Foundation. I'm really excited for some good eats and a great cause. It's in Harbor East on the lot at 421 Central Avenue. Will you be there?
